    Hüseyin Özinal

    (Painter, Decor Design, Abstract, Installation)

After living abroad for many years, the artist returned to the island. During his childhood, Özinal doodled on papers and later developed an interest in art through the patterns he painted. Özinal, who studied painting, has been working in his chosen field both in Istanbul and Cyprus alongside with his practices in decor and stage design. Having been deeply affected by the war on the island and the following socio-political imbalances, the artist reflects the complexity of his inner world to his practices with strong color explosions. Among the colors chosen by the artist, red holds an important place. Using different shades of this color which represent many different emotions such as passion, eroticism, fear, and action, Özinal applies other colors other than red in a very strong and bright manner. For example, in abstract compositions made with acrylic on paper in the collection, navy blue is a sign of these strong colors. In addition to these abstract paintings of different materials on canvas, paper, and cardboard, the artist also works using different concepts. Stage/decor design is similar to installation work in the sense of interfering with an area. In connection with this, Özinal is accustomed to the concept of installation and has installation works in public areas at Northern Cyprus.
